English Literature at Chichester University
‘To be or not to be …’/’Ha! I like not that.’/’I am the man.’
A select band of Year 12 and 13 English Literature students attended the Shakespeare Conference 2018 at Chichester University on Thursday 19th April with Ms Hodson at the helm.
The day comprised of 5 ‘snap’ lectures delivered by 5 academics from the University focusing on cultural context, the ‘others’ in Shakespeare’s plays, the representation of women and war and a seminar (conducted on the green at the heart of the University) allowing close reading and close listening of three texts.
It was an excellent opportunity to listen to lecturers in a university environment and develop a deeper understanding of the Bard’s words; all in good time for the upcoming terminal examinations.
