Meet the SLT

Mr Alaric Govan - Headteacher

Alaric Govan Headteacher at Chichester High School

I’ve worked in schools for almost 30 years, most of it in Hampshire. Over this time period, I have worked in various schools as an English teacher, Head of Department, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and finally as a Headteacher for the past 6 years.

I have lived in West Sussex for almost 20 years and Chichester High School is somewhere I have always wanted to work. The children are engaged, ambitious and proud of their achievements. The staff are equally proud of the school and of being part of this community. All of this makes Chichester High School a unique place to work.

I believe in high standards of behaviour and achievement (both inside and outside of the classroom), but I also think it’s important to provide high levels of support too. I'm also passionate about developing experiences outside of the classroom - I think that's what really makes a school different and it is something I am committed to developing.

During the seven-year journey in secondary education, students grow from children, through the teenage years, and finally into young adults. I think it is a real privilege to be part of that journey.
