CITIZENSHIP

Curriculum intent

At CHS we have developed a bespoke Relationships, Health and Sex education which sits alongside Citizenship and is entwined with the whole school’s pastoral curriculum.

It is our intent that all students receive an age/development appropriate and reflective high quality curriculum.

This needs to be both sensitive and inclusive, with an integral expectation of EXCELlence in terms of its delivery and how it is respected; students and staff are regularly given opportunities to reflect on the significance of RSHE and therefore recognise its importance.

In lessons students will develop knowledge of the law surrounding RSHE and they are encouraged to read both fiction and non-fiction texts to help them develop empathy and understanding of others.

The intent behind this, is for all students to understand how to develop, sustain and manage healthy relationships through all areas of their life.

Teaching about mental wellbeing is central to this, so they can ENDEAVOUR to become happy adults who ENJOY life and demonstrate integrity and kindness.

(Year 11 first teaching will be September 2022)
