Reading at CHS

Reading During Lockdown

Chichester High School

Spring Term 2021

CHS

Reading has always been vital to a child’s education and well-being. Whilst we are separated during this period of Lockdown students should continue to pursue reading.

All students should aim to read for a minimum of 30 minutes every. Not only is this important  to maintain developments in this vital skill but it also provides an activity away from the screen and can provide escapism through access to amazing stories.

To support your child’s reading and well-being we have provided access to the virtual library.

Year 7

Pupils can access e-books from the school library e-platform or find book extracts and quick reads on the year 7 Google Classroom under Classwork.

Listening to the LOOM presentation from Mrs Mulkern here

Pupils will have a ‘library lesson’ once a week in their English live lesson timetable, where they will have an opportunity to read and complete their Accelerated Reader quizzes.  But please do encourage them to read outside of school time.

If you have a WSCC library card, you and your family can access a whole range of
e-resources such as books, magazines, newspapers, audio books and comics here

Year 8-11

Pupils can access ebooks from the School Library ebook platform Accessit here

The following Loom presentation demonstrates how to access these resources.

If you have a WSCC library card, you and your family can access a whole range of
e-resources such as books, magazines, newspapers, audio books and comics here

Anyone with problems logging on to ePlatform or AR is welcome to email Mrs Mulkern here or contact Mrs Mulkern via Classcharts.

Each year-group also has their own Google Classroom with recommended book titles.
