Curriculum intent

Subjects within Social Science aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to be a happy, healthy and active member of contemporary society; allowing them to recognise and ENJOY their role as part of the school, local, national and global communities they are part of.

They are taught the knowledge required to allow them to consciously reflect on human nature and their own social actions. 

They are also given opportunities to develop critical thinking and research skills which allows them to ENDEAVOUR with their independent learning, applying what they learn within class to wider settings.

Integral to this intent, is the requirement that students are encouraged to read fiction and non-fiction texts which help them develop empathy and a deeper understanding for the world around them.

This combination of knowledge, skills and development of character will ensure students strive for EXCELlence in terms of their own learning and what they aspire the future world to look like.
