Health and Fitness (Hf) or PE GCSE (Py)
Students will opt for ‘GCSE PE / Health and Fitness’. After a consultation with a member of the PE department, students will then follow the appropriate course that best suits their skill set and needs.
Health and Fitness (Hf) Exam Board and Specification: NCFE Certificate (Level 1/2) Aim This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to health and fitness that includes a vocational and project-based element. The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector or progress to further study. Content The study of health and fitness involves understanding the functions of the body systems, understanding the principles of training, and knowing how the body reacts in the short and long term to fitness activities, how to create and apply lifestyle analysis tools and how to create a fitness programme for a person with specific goals. Unit 1: 40% externally assessed – Introduction to Body Systems and Principles of Training in Health and Fitness Unit 2: 60%: internally assessed – Preparing and Planning for Health and Fitness Homework Homework will be based on the theory or practical sessions. This will be set weekly and is an integral part of the course. |
GCSE PE (Py) Exam Board and Specification: AQA GCSE PE 8582 Aim To enable you to enjoy and understand the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle. To provide a route to further study in Further Education awards such as A Levels and/or BTEC level 3 and to Higher Education in PE, as well as to related career opportunities. Content 30% Practical: Assessed in 3 different sports 10% Course work: Performance analysis 60% theory:
