World Book Day

Another busy and exciting World Book Day for Chichester High School.  Key Stage Three were entertained, informed and enthused by a selection of visiting authors and story tellers, as well as attending special World Book Day assemblies and receiving their World Book Day book vouchers.

World book day 2019

Year 7 saw a return visit by our favourite local story teller, Jamie Crawford.  Jamie mesmerised the year group with his mystical tales from ancient folklore.  7G also earned a special session with Jamie (because of their amazing effort with their Accelerated Reading) where they learnt the art of storytelling and went away with their own spooky tale to retell - apologies to any little sibling!

The many creative writing careers available was the theme of Andy Briggs' talk to Year 8.  Andy not only writes YA and graphic novels, but writes scripts for film and TV. His ebullient and entertaining talk sent Year 8s home wanting to read his books and maybe even consider writing as a career.

Finally a group of 40 Year 9 pupils had two great creative writing sessions on comedy and character writing, from YA novel and TV script writer Simon James Green.  Our Year 9 Book Club were delighted to have lunch with him afterwards to find out more about his career and approach to writing.
