Chess v Seaford

On Thursday 8th June, we played host to Seaford College. Our last encounter had left us keen to play our best, and that is what CHS did.

With some fresh recruits in our ranks and leaving our new not-so-secret Chess GOAT (greatest of all times) on the sidelines.
(We thought we would give Seaford a chance as Vinuda who has recently joined the school is a Sri Lanka National Youth U14 Chess Champion 2022).

So on 1st board, we had Alex D, 2nd board Kyall G, on the 3rd board was Ramiel, and closing for us on 4th board was Yr 12 student James Hamilton.

We were more than victorious! we didn't drop a single game and each player managed a win as white and as black. Giving a staggering 8-0 win to CHS.

Congratulations must go to the whole Club as even those who did not play, turned up to support in the library and who every week are in training giving it their all.

If anybody else would like to join our winning team please come
to S36 every Tuesday after school.

Next year our chess team is entering the
National Schools Chess Championships, so please wish us luck!
