Food Banks

Dear Voucher Holders

I have become aware that this has not been picked up by all agencies or it may have gone in your junk.
Please can you note we have changed the way we do things and it is imperative you get the clients to book an appointment for Chichester or Selsey as today we had many who just turned up and that meant there was a queue and social gathering. It also put my volunteers at risk.  If you have received this please can you pass it onto all your staff.

Many thanks

Joanne

Chichester District Foodbank's Covid 19 Contigency Plans.

With the unprecedented situation we have found ourselves in we are having to change the way we run Chichester District Foodbank.  What makes this a challenge is we have 4 foodbank centres and each centre will run slightly differently due to manpower and area they serve.  During this time we also realise  you may be running differently too so I hope our plans work in with you.

Chichester Foodbank Centre
The main centre in Chichester is going to continue to run a normal  service from their building in Orchard Street e.g Mon/Wed 2-4 & Fri 4-6.  Like Littlehampton we are going to run an appointment service so clients can come to our side door ring the bell and immediately pick up their parcel.  This will mean that when you issue a voucher the client will need to phone us and arrange a time for them to come in. They will also need to provide us with the size of family so we can pre-pack.
If a client is self isolating due to health problems or illness and it is possible for you to send someone to pick up the parcel for them please could you arrange that. We can always do this for you out of our normal hours to make it easier for you. However, if that is not possible please could you ask them to contact us to arrange a delivery.  In this case we ask you to not give the client the voucher, but give them the voucher number and then either scan over the completed voucher or you email over all the details and we add this directly to our data base.  When we deliver we will drop the food outside their house and ringing them to say it is there.
Please note nobody works on a Tuesday, but if you need to arrange an appointment please phone 07557669603 and I will deal with it.

Chichester District Foodbank in Selsey
The foodbank Centre in Selsey is also going to continue to run a normal service on Friday 4-6 pm at the Methodist Church and like Chichester will run an appointment service.
If a client is self isolating due to health problems or illness and it is possible for you to send someone to pick up the parcel for them please could you arrange that with Selsey.  However, if that is not possible please could you ask the client to contact them to arrange a delivery.  In this case we ask you to not give the client the voucher, but the voucher number and you either scan over the completed voucher or you email over all the details so that they can send that to our office to put on the data system.  When they deliver they will drop the food outside their house and ring them to say it is there.

Chichester District Foodbank in Midhurst
Midhurst Foodbank Centre are only going to run a delivery service. They cover Midhurst and the surrounding villages and Hamlets. When you have a client that needs to access their service please could you ask them to contact Midhurst to arrange this. In this case we ask you to not give the client the voucher, but give them the voucher number and you either scan over the completed voucher or you email over all the details so that they can send that to our office to put on the data system.  When they deliver they will drop the food outside the clients house and ring them to say it is there.

Chichester District Foodbank in Petworth
Petworth Foodbank Centre are going to continue to run a delivery service. They cover Petworth and the surrounding villages and Hamlets. When you have a client that needs to access their service please could you ask the client to contact Petworth to arrange this. In this case we ask you to not give the client the voucher, but you give them the voucher number and you either scan over the completed voucher or you email over all the details so that they can send that to our office to put on the data system.  When they deliver they will drop the food outside the clients house and ring them to say it is there.

Please take note of these important Points:

  1. Selsey, Midhurst and Petworth and totally run by volunteers so please be patient.  If there are problem please phone Chichester.
  2. If you are only running a telephone service and cannot physically give the voucher  to clients coming to Chichester and Selsey please give them their voucher number and ask them to telephone for an appointment. Then email their details over to the relevant centre so we can put them on our data system.
  3. MOST IMPORTANTLY IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT YOU DO NOT PROVIDE A VOUCHER FOR SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT FIT OUR CRITERIA.  THEY MUST BE IN FOOD POVERTY AND NOT JUST IN ISOLATION AND CANNOT GET FOOD.  AT PRESENT WE ARE FINDING PEOPLE ARE CONTACTING THE FOODBANK BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET THE SUPERMARKETS TO DELIVER.  THIS DOES NOT MEET OUR CONSTITUTIONAL OBJECTIVES AND WE DO NOT HAVE THE FOOD OR CAPACITY TO HELP.  IF PEOPLE HAVE MONEY TO BUY FOOD WE CANNOT HELP.
  4. If you hold vouchers for more than one foodbank please remember to use the Chichester District vouchers as we cannot serve people outside of our district at present.
  5. As we have never walked this way before we may have to tweak the plans we have put in place, but I will keep you up to date.

Many thanks for your support.
