Transition to CHS

School transitions

This is a very exciting time of year for Chichester High School. We have successfully completed our Transition Programme of Extra Curricular Clubs for our local feeder schools which began after Christmas. It was lovely to welcome Year 6 students to our Primary Colours art club, Team Cuisine food technology club and Atom Alliance science club.

Our Transition Team is currently visiting Primary Schools to discuss our plans and what to expect between now and the end of the academic year. When we return from half term we will be sending invites out for our Workshop Sessions. Students have been selected through conversations with Primary Schools. This will give those students an extra opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school layout and expectations around behaviour, learning and visual excellence.

We have a fantastic group of student volunteers that will buddy up with Year 7's during the Academic Week to make sure all students are happy and in the right place. Students will follow a timetable and experience fun activities and settling in lessons with teachers so they know what to expect when they start in September.

For those students numbering 1 or 2 individuals from a Primary School, they will be invited in for our Small Schools Visit. This will give students the chance to make some new friends prior to Academic Week and it will help to inform our tutor group selections, helping to make sure they know someone in their groups. Invites for this event will be sent out after half term.

Parents Evening will be an opportunity for parents/carers to come into school and meet with their child's Form Tutor. This will be an opportunity for you as Parents/Carers to ask questions and alleviate any worries you may have. Transition is as much for you as it is the students. It will also be an opportunity to speak to our uniform suppliers 'Game Set and Match'. They will have a stall set up so parents/carers can have a conversation with them regarding uniform items.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child into the CHS community. Myself as Head of Year and Mrs Curtis as the Attendance Pastoral Support Manager (APSM) look forward to meeting you soon.

Transition 2023

Kindest regards,

Mr Rob Ward
Head of Year 7
