Supporting local charities

Young people at Chichester High School are making a difference
by supporting local charities

Students from Chichester High School have been tackling social issues by supporting local charities as part of a Programme provided by a social action charity First Give 

The First Give programme inspires and empowers young people to take action to make a positive change in society. We are a charity that work in partnership with schools to deliver our innovative and interactive programme.

Year 9 students have engaged in social action in support of their chosen charities (Brighton LGBTQ Switchboard and Sussex Snowdrop Trust), and will compete in Chichester High School Final on Friday 13th May at 2pm.

At the School Final, judges Louisa Searle, Director of First Give and Sarah Morgan will see presentations from the students about each charity and the students’ work, to decide which class will be awarded a £1,000 First Give grant for their charity.

It promises to be an inspiring event showing the passion and dedication of young people to local causes in the community that they care about.

There was only 1 point between the two final groups and the judges explained how hard it was to make the decision because they were so impressive.

What most impressed them was how they could talk so eloquently about such serious issues, The Sussex Snowdrop trust - childhood cancer and Switchboard - experiences of homophobia and transphobia.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust said,

Congratulations on reaching the final of the charities, you have already shown how important it is to support local children who need the help of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust when they are faced with the difficult news that they have a life threatening illness like cancer, brain tumour or cystic fibrosis.

The money donated, (should you been successful), would make a difference right here in your community.

The money would go towards providing counselling sessions, vital nursing care at home from our specialist nurses and additional financial help when receiving treatment in hospital.

Promote the importance of the impact of local students supporting local children in your community. We are a small charity with a large heart and we would be so grateful to receive a £1000 donation.

Thank you for highlighting the amazing work of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust within your school and for showing such enthusiasm and drive to help others.
