Stars finally shine for the CHS musical - High School Musical

Wildcats LogoStudents, parents, and staff finally were able to come together to watch Chichester High School’s production of High School the Musical!

Head of Performing Arts, Mrs Clarke said: “We would like to thank the amazing students at Chichester High School for their resilience and enthusiasm with this production.

“Putting on a production with COVID constantly lingering in the background has been one of the biggest challenges we have faced. Who would have thought that we would still be rehearsing in the spring term and still worrying who might be absent next!

“They have listened to direction, learnt/re-learnt/re-remembered dance sequences, acting tips and harmonies. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow as a company, everyone has contributed so much and kept us positive through it all.

“We cannot thank all the students enough for their commitment, they really are ‘all in this together’.”

The performance took place over the course of two nights, Wednesday 6th April and    Thursday 7th April and saw the school’s theatre packed to the rafters.

One parent said: “It was an absolutely fantastic show, we really enjoyed it! You could see how hard the students had worked to practice and learn their lines. It was brilliant!”

A student commented: “I love being part of the show, it’s been so much fun!”

Headteacher Jo McKeown said: "I am ridiculously proud of our Performing Arts Team and pupils.  Back in December 2021, I had to ask pupils not to perform because of the increased COVID risk.  This production is even more exceptional because of the sheer grit and resilience every member of the team have demonstrated.  They have embodied the High School Musical anthem, We’re All In This Together
