Gillian Keegan MP visits CHS

We were delighted to welcome Gillian Keegan MP to our school on Friday 15th February.

Gillian was greeted by our students who then introduced her to our new Headteacher, Mrs Joanne McKeown before having a tour of the school.

Students from across the school were invited to meet Gillian and have a question and answer session, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

Gillian was ‘grilled’ by our students before meeting our CHS CCF (Combined Cadet Force) Contingent.

Mrs McKeown – Headteacher said: "Today we welcomed Gillian Keegan to our school and our pupils have enjoyed talking with her and asking lots of questions!
It would be fair to say it was tougher than the questions the PM faces. Our pupils were excellent ambassadors for CHS, speaking confidently, knowledgeably and respectfully. Gillian was able to take part in some sport as well as meeting our excellent CCF contingent on parade. We always enjoy having visitors to our school as it gives pupils an excellent opportunity to practice their hospitality skills and develop confidence, two really important life skills."

We look forward to welcoming Gillian back sometime in the future.

After her visit, Gillian said: It was so lovely to return to Chichester High School. The students there are clearly engaged with current affairs and I was impressed that their focus was on local issues as well as the headline-catching ones on our news screens every night. Although it seems I have some homework to do to respond to all of the questions I didn’t get time to answer. It was also great to see the CCF on parade, a first for me on a school visit.
