IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Emergency School Closure (3rd Nov 2016)

Dear parents and carers,

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I am writing to inform you that the school is closed tomorrow, Thursday 3rd November 2016.  The reason for this is, as you may have heard in the national press today, that all schools have been asked to check whether or not they have the chemical DNP in their Science Departments.  Following this advice, we discovered that we do indeed have some of this chemical stored in both the Stockbridge and Kingsham buildings of the High School.  My apologies that this is late notice but this situation has only come to light after the close of school today.

The Police and Fire services have advised me that it is a priority that this chemical is disposed of.  To do this safely we have made the decision that the school needs to be closed whilst the emergency services deal with the substances. Please check your emails and our Facebook, Twitter accounts and website for further announcements.

We are confident at this stage that we shall be open for all pupils and staff on Friday morning as usual, however the Year 7 Information Evening that was scheduled for tomorrow evening will be postponed.

I am very sorry for this inconvenience but I do hope parents and students understand that I have to put safety first and act on the advice given to me by the emergency services.
