Our CHS School Remembrance Service

Chichester High School held its annual Remembrance Service on Thursday 10th November 2016.

Students in Year 7 and student members of the School’s Combined Cadet Force joined in silence to remember our fallen heroes.  Head of School, Nick Brown, led the service with a poignant speech about the importance of Remembrance.

This was followed by CHS students Jazmin Brewer reading ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McCrae and Elodie May reading ‘The Soldier’ by Rupert Brook.

As we observed the two-minute silence, the names of our fallen Chichester High School for Boys students featured on our school memorial plaque were read out, highlighting that former students who had worn green blazers had made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.

The School Combined Cadet Force banner party led the way as CCF cadets, laid two wreaths on behalf of the School and Old Boys in the school hall.

Mr Roman, said: “This is always a very moving occasion for all those involved – whether cadets, students or staff.  It is more important than ever that we continue to remember those who have given their lives for us over the years, and I am proud that we continue to mark this occasion and ensure that the key messages of Remembrance Day are passed down to the next generation.”

Praise must also be given to the band that played extremely well, with our superb bugler Jasper McGarry rising to the challenge.

Head of School, Nick Brown, said: I would like to thank and congratulate our CHS community on a wonderful service of Remembrance.  The students representing both schools, the band, the CCF, the readers, were all fine ambassadors.”
