Everyone Remembered

At 1100hrs on the 11th November 2018 we commemorate 100 Years since the ‘guns fell silent’ - to mark the end of the 1914-18 ‘Great War’.

A campaign has been organised to remember every person that lost their life.

1,060,174 names are listed - that’s just over a million.

Ccf headstoneThis War Graves Headstone is in the graveyard of St Marys’ Church, the church at the junction of Kingsham Avenue and Whyke Road.

Gordon and Leonard lived at 14 The Hornet, Chichester. They were brothers.

Leonard was just 19 when he died, less than 2 months after war was declared. He is buried in France.

Gordon died aged 22. Just over a year after his brother.

Their parents had lost two sons.

The CCF has officially commemorated the sacrifice made by both these men and will undertake to care for their headstone.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them”
