Football Tour to Eindhoven, Holland

The Chichester High School football academy took 24 of its 6th form students and 19 students from the school football teams on a football tour to Eindhoven, Holland.

The trip was based at PSV Eindhoven academy and 42 students experienced coaching and training from this top Dutch football club.

Upon arrival we went for our first training session and the students were blown away by the facilities and the 36 degree temperatures. We were offered tickets to Ajax v PSV Eindhoven ladies that evening so couldn't pass up this brilliant opportunity and were thoroughly impressed by the standard within the game.

Day two saw another training session and a tour of PSV Phillips stadium and museum, this was an opportunity for the students to look behind the scenes at a top Dutch stadium and they were able to see the media centre, VIP area, changing rooms, warm up areas and the prestigious Ruud Guillet box. In the evening we played against Dutch side SAB, the experience of playing against the different mind-set and approach of Dutch opposition was invaluable.

Day three was theme park day as we visited the biggest theme park in Europe: Efteling.  The students loved this opportunity to relax from football for a day and totally engaged with the delights the park had to offer.

Back to football on day four with another PSV academy led training session and another game against Dutch opposition: Woden. Again, the experience of trying to compete with good Dutch opposition really gave the students an insight into the world culture that is football.

A final training session before travelling home completed day five.

A thoroughly brilliant tour: completely "footballed out" our touring party returned home. The students were fantastic throughout and were a real credit to themselves, their parents and the school.
