Netball Yr9/10

Chichester High School hosted a mixed year 9/10 netball tournament.
With a short notice cancellation, we had:Netball 2

CHS-A
CHS-B
Chichester Free School
Midhurst Rother College.

Chichester High School A’s felt the pressure against Midhurst, allowing them to get a massive lead that brought their heads down.

The girls fought back after the half time and did some great intercepting. Once Evie got her confidence she was able to put some good shots up and Joley did some great rebounded shots. Bronen was priceless in the centre court and did some great work with Alisha.

Ending the game on 15 5 to MRC the girls knew they needed to step the game up for the rest of the games if they stood a chance getting the result they deserved.

Our second game was against CHS-B. While the girls struggled to settle with playing against their friends they very quickly took a good lead and demonstrated some excellent play. Eloise was great at Goal Keeper and supported by Hester they made a great combination.

The second half proved to be the best netball the girls have shown in a competitive situation and they proved what a good team they really can be.

CHS - A CHS - B     16 - 1.

Netball 4CHS A’s final game was against the Free School. From the outset it looked as though it was going to be a tricky match but the girls pulled together and demonstrated some great second phase play.
Roxy played brilliantly for all games and was a great support to the girls, for this one especially. Stephie did some lovely marking which promoted Hester to intercept. The girls played by the rules which resulted in a well-deserved win.

Thank you to Miss French for umpiring the CHS-B team:

“Chichester High School B played amazingly to an early lead against Chichester Free School. However in the second half, Chichester Free School fought back hard to a narrow victory. Ashanti played great defending in and around the ‘D’, with great support from Lauren at centre. Ending with a final score of 3-2. The girls then played a tough game against our A team. The girls kept fighting, despite the score at half time. Successfully scoring in the second half for a final score of 1-16. Lauren and Ashanti continued to play well, with Amelia making some great interceptions. Our final match was played against Midhurst Rother, the girls kept fighting and making good interception from the start. Sammie and Scarlett worked excellently within the ‘D’ but unfortunately against such a strong team did not pull back to make half of their score.” –  Miss French

Netball 5

Both teams have been a pleasure to train and have developed over this term. They should all be very proud of their commitment and attitude towards a sport they now all love!

I am looking forward to next year and further developments with these girls!
